Vacation Bible School is Here

We are excited to announce that Mercy Hill will be hosting a Vacation Bible School this summer!  VBS is a “summer camp” type ministry for kids grades pre-K through Elementary.  We will have Bible lessons, crafts, games, snacks, and plenty of opportunities to connect with others in our church community and local neighborhood.

This summer’s focus is The Parables of Jesus.  Kids will learn about the Parable of the Sower, the Lost Coin, the Prodigal Son, and more in a fun, hands-on setting.

The VBS event will be mornings 9:45 am- 12:00 pm from August 10-14.  We will be meeting at the church house, which is located at 1050 Holly Dell Ct., Sewell, NJ 08080.

We encourage all parents of kids pre-K through Elementary to register as soon as possible.   Also, we need parents/adults to help and volunteer in our program.  If you are able, please be a part of our team and sign up for the roles listed below.  These include helpers in the games, Bible time, song time, and cleanup.

To register, please click here. This will open up an email to us. In your email, please include the parent/guardian's name as well as the names and ages of the children who will attend.  We will respond and send you a confirmation.

Deacon & Mercy Training: Everyone's a Deacon

Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia is hosting 2 identical workshops on Saturday, October 3 and 17 and then again on Saturday, December 5 and 19. These workshops are good for diaconal nominees, church members, seminary students, and other men and women wanting the build up their compassion and mercy skills.

The goal of these workshops is to empower, equip, and mobilize churches for works of mercy, evangelism, and transformation of their congregations and neighborhoods. In love, God has drawn us to himself and has shown us compassion in a tangible way when weren’t even interested (Romans 5:6). This love
compels us to show mercy to others. God has given us gifts, talents, and resources to reach out to our communities through ministries of mercy. The needs that exist near and around our church’s settings are great. What better way to respond to God's gift of love than by giving time, energy, and ourselves in mercy
and diaconal ministry?

The sessions are featuring Dr. David S. Apple author of Not Just a Soup Kitchen: How Mercy Ministry Transforms. The cost is $50 for both sessions and $30 for one session.

Spring 2015 Congregational Meeting

You are invited to Mercy Hill’s spring congregational meeting to be held at 7pm on Wednesday May 13, 2015 at the church house (1050 Holly Dell Ct., Sewell NJ). All attenders and friends interested in Mercy Hill are invited to attend.

The purpose of this meeting is twofold:

  • First, we will discuss our church’s financial commitments for this year, make pledges for giving for this year’s budget, and to pray for God’s financial provision for our church.
  • Second, we will pray over the men who will be nominated to serve as our church’s first elders.

That process will go as follows. Between now and Wednesday May 13, all communing members of Mercy Hill (in covenant members who are taking the Lord’s Supper) may submit names to our interim board of elders of men who meet the qualifications of 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1 for the office of elder and deacon.
