Deacon & Mercy Training: Everyone's a Deacon
Permalink Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia is hosting 2 identical workshops on Saturday, October 3 and 17 and then again on Saturday, December 5 and 19. These workshops are good for diaconal nominees, church members, seminary students, and other men and women wanting the build up their compassion and mercy skills.
The goal of these workshops is to empower, equip, and mobilize churches for works of mercy, evangelism, and transformation of their congregations and neighborhoods. In love, God has drawn us to himself and has shown us compassion in a tangible way when weren’t even interested (Romans 5:6). This love
compels us to show mercy to others. God has given us gifts, talents, and resources to reach out to our communities through ministries of mercy. The needs that exist near and around our church’s settings are great. What better way to respond to God's gift of love than by giving time, energy, and ourselves in mercy
and diaconal ministry?
The sessions are featuring Dr. David S. Apple author of Not Just a Soup Kitchen: How Mercy Ministry Transforms. The cost is $50 for both sessions and $30 for one session.
