Showing Mercy This Summer

Recently we've begun plans for Mercy Hill to get involved in some kind of mercy ministry in Glassboro.

The project is being led by our summer intern, Caleb Way.

We posted some information on this project, "Mercy Hill Sacred Space" earlier on this blog.

Since then, Caleb has refined the focus away from Mercy Hill doing something "on its own" in Glassboro's Elsmere Park.

Our "plan" currently is aimed in two directions: first, in July, moving toward working with the City of Glassboro at East New St. Park for a summer "family day."

Second, working with a local Glassboro Church, Emmanuel Baptist, and assisting them in their VBS program next week.

We need volunteers for both of these events, so please contact Caleb as soon as possible if you're interested in helping.

Final Preview Service!

This past Sunday, over 50 people gathered as Mercy Hill held its final preview service at Rowan University. We were led in worship by Lou Ciavolella and a team composed of other volunteer musicians.

Pastor Phil Henry delivered a message from 2 Peter 1 entitled "You Must Grow." Click here to listen to this sermon online as well as view a video excerpt from the service.

Also, new pictures have been added here to document our day together.

As we look back on these past 4 preview services, we sense God moving us into a new stage of church planting and preparing us for launching a weekly worship service in the Fall.

New Worship Time

This Sunday Mercy Hill will gather for our final worship service.

As was mentioned last month, our service time will change this Sunday. We will meet at 10:45am. However, the location is the same: Boyd Recital Hall, on campus at Rowan. For directions, click here.

We're looking forward to gathering for worship one final time this Spring before moving into the summer, when we will focus on developing our small groups, called missional communities, or "crowded houses."

We will have a great team of players, some of whom helped us last month (Marc, vocals) and some of whom are new to our community (Greg, drums; Dan, piano). Our worship leader this month will be Lou Ciavolella, who attends Covenant PCA in Cherry Hill.

Phil will preach a sermon on the subject of what it means to grow as a Christian. This should be a helpful message for both believers, seekers, and not-yet Christians. Please make a point to invite your friends; if you have invited them before, don't hesitate to invite them again.

For your use, we've updated the PDF invitation for you to use. Go to our downloads page here to get it.
